Why Core Exercises are Important for Seniors

Core strengthening exercises are critical for everyone's workout routine, not just seniors. They promote overall strength, balance and stability because they train the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdomen to work together.

But core exercises are most important for seniors because as we age the core is one of the first parts of the body to become weaker.  So, it's important to target core muscles in our exercise routines.

 

Excellent examples of core exercises for seniors include:

  • Leg Lifts

  • Seated Side Bends

  • Squats
