Why Balance Exercises are Important for Seniors

Unless you are an avid practitioner of yoga, most of us do not think about the importance of balance exercises in our fitness routines.​  But balance exercises become very important as we age as it helps to prevent potentially disabling falls.  

 

Excellent examples of balance exercises for seniors include:

​

  • Maintaining balance while walking between designated points (with or without assistance)

  • Standing on one foot 

  • Walking while placing pressure on the foot from heel to toe

  • Lifting one foot off the floor while standing

​
